The Phoenix Zoo

The Phoenix Zoo is one of the largest and most acclaimed zoos in the world. Parents and children alike will fall in love with the 1,300+ animals on display, including such favorites as American bald eagles, mountain lions, cheetahs, orangutans, giraffes, white rhinos and Asian elephants. Plan at least 4 hours to visit the Phoenix Zoo, and be sure to wear comfortable shoes. The 2.5 miles of walking trails provide a healthy work out while you explore the exhibits.
Desert Botanical Garden

The Desert Botanical Garden offers miles of hiking trails and numerous botanical exhibits detailing the diversity of flora in the Sonoran desert. The Garden is also host to many events throughout the year, including the popular nighttime flashlight tours. It's an ideal way to learn about the natural plants and cacti of the Southwest.
Tip: The Desert Botanical Garden offers free admission the second Tuesday of every month.
